Decades of Shared Summers, Stories, and Smiles
Camp NEOFA History
Camp NEOFA was founded in 1957; the realization of a dream on the part of some enterprising Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in the Northeast. NEOFA stands for North East Odd Fellows’ Association, which is comprised of members from the Jurisdictions of: Atlantic Provinces, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Quebec, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Following several years of discussing and exploring, the Montville Fairgrounds, in Montville, ME was purchased and the “dream” was on its way. For the first few years, campers lived in tents during their stay at Camp NEOFA; but, one by one Jurisdictions built or provided funds for cabins, named for the Jurisdiction who paid for their construction. As time went along, the dining hall, nurse’s cabin, admin building, arts and crafts building, and “rec” buildings were added.
The NEOFA campus currently consists of 12 cabins, each housing up to 10 people, and five ancillary buildings. The “Castle”, located adjacent to the dining hall, is the last remaining building from the old Montville Fairgrounds.
There are more than 100 acres of open fields, pine groves and undeveloped land, with 2,300 feet of water frontage on beautiful True’s Pond. Co-ed youth camping is offered for youngsters between the ages of 8 – 14, during the month of July, and our staff is committed to providing every camper with a safe, and fun-filled summer camping experience. Many youngsters return year after year; and, when they are too old to come as campers, they return to help younger children have the same exciting camping experience they enjoyed.
